Watters Words

Random Acts of Missional Behavior

I am getting older! I know this to be true, probably more true than I can to admit, because my body is screaming at me today in non-verbal reminders of how sore a person can get after a weekend of vigorous work.  This weekend I had the wonderful privilege of working side-by-side with several amazing people who came together at my wife’s request to aid and encourage a single mom who had been left in shambles by a husband who for many, many years did absolutely nothing to care for their marriage or their home; their physical home.  If you ever wondered what might happen to your house if it were left without any type of outside maintenance for, let’s say about 20 years, just let me know – I have a house to show you.

This little group of missional activists and I spent all day Saturday and Sunday bringing hope and restoration to the home and life of a family – what a way to spend a weekend! We have a lot left to do but I am so please that this little group of brand new Jesus followers gave up their time and talents to be Jesus to a woman who follows the teachings of L. Ron Hubbard.

As we got into the weekend I learned that one of the men who has a very well paying skilled trades position in a large factory in our area chose to give up a full day’s overtime so that he could come and fulfill the promise he made to be there to help . . . that my friend is very cool.

The bond that began between the individuals and families was too sweet to put into words.  I am looking forward to going back – and so is everyone else that was involved so far – now that is Kingdom come stuff.
